Guide to Fixing Central Locking Motors

Hi folks,have you got a naughty central locking motor that doesnt work? I had the tailgate motor pack up,so heres what i did
(i think the door motors are similar so it should work for them as well

  • 1. Disconnect the battery(advisable when fiddling with the electrics)
  • 2. Remove the offending central locking motor(a manual may come in handy at this point)
  • 3. Once you have removed the motor it appears that it is sealed,as the two halves are joined   using what appear to be brass rivets peened over at the ends.What you need to do now is drill one side of the rivets with a suitable drill bit(dont go wild,just drill the head off)
  • 4. Once you have drilled out all the  rivets(5 on the tailgate motor) push them through and remove them with a pair of pliers.You can now carefully seperate the two halves of the motor with a thin bladed screwdriver.
  • 5. Once open you will see a small motor attached by wire to a small board,and some plastic gears.Remove the motor and take this along to your local model shop and match up a motor.(this is what i did,for

my locks are ok at the mo, but will defo remember this if they ever pack up, nice one for this mate, sure plenty of people would find this handy, have a karma dude  :)

Car is dead locked on driver's door. I have 2 keys but neither will turn the lock, passenger door and boot locked. what do I do now?, apart from taking it to a dealer.
