Hi all,

Not been on this site for 6 years, had to rejoin as a newbie!  Do profiles get deleted if you don't log on for ages??

Good to see you are near me ALZ in Gloucester, I only see one Cally on the road every 3 months these days.

Mine has been SORN for 6 years now with leaking rusty fuel pipes (fixed), leaking steering fluid pipes, missing handbrake shoes and mechanism and a stuck bonnet.  But thanks to returning to this site I have read how to open the bonnet without having to cut through the bonnet with an angle grinder!

It's still gorgeous in Ceramic Blue with alloys though so I will not give up on it returning to the road.  These cars seem to keep respect from everyone, even those who don't like older cars, with most commenting on how they have aged well and don't look old fashioned.  I remember polishing mine and arriving at a party where a woman was having a fag at the door, there was no Calibra badge on the back so she asked "wow what car is that it's gorgeous is it a sports car?", I replied that it was "an old Vauxhall" so she said oh what a piece of sh*t!  So I decided the next time a woman asked what exotic sports car I was driving I would say it was a Maserati!

Do 10 members STILL join EVERY day??

Hiya!

We have quite a lil collection by me actually, haha! I have a V6 and @StanleyKing and  @V6Leicestertiger have...... wait for it..... between them...

a SE2, SE6, V6, and an XEV haha! Madness!

Yeah your old profile would have dropped off the peg and no, 10 people don't join a day, 10 years ago maybe but not now :)

Welcome back. My Cally is Ceramic Blue, debadging it & removing the V-grille has made it appear to some as ageless except for the N reg numberplate:)

Thanks guys, it's good to be back and feel part of something with like minded people.

I have the Club Calibra logos along my rear side windows, but not many see them on my driveway!  If I ever had a negative thing to say about the 2 Calibras I've owned it's that they are quite boring to drive, not much fun feedback through the corners that I did notice some Fords of the day had.

Nath surely Ceramic Blue is the best colour!?  Looks great when polished, I hid the age of mine with a YLR 40S number plate I transferred off a 70's classic I had restored (Mitsubishi Colt Celeste), in fact I had 3 of them over a few years.

Morning!

I have been hankering after a Calibra for years and bagged a '95 2.0 8v a few weeks back. Got it from eBay - the old lady (seriously...) needed something smaller that her husband could get in and out of more easily so, after nearly 20yrs, she parted with the Calibra. 41K on the clock and a bit scruffy around the edges but it is mine. It has all the "features" you would expect:

- Headlining knackered and held up with pegs
- Noisy check strap on driver's door
- Blocked rad

We have changed the oil, filters (just fuel and oil), ATF and stuck a new rad in. Now to get it used to doing more than 10 miles a week...

Also have a '95 2.0 16v SRi Cavalier and a '02 Vectra SRi 150 but one of those has to go to make room for the new toy.

Cheers
Matt

Lose the Vectra! ;)

Welcome along, I dare say it needs a good run out then! Haha. Great story.

Get some pics up....

Lose the Vectra! ;)

That appears to be the harsh reality but the Vectra has been and still is a fantastic bit of machinery, especially on the M4.

I shall try and get some photos up.

Jeez Raffles,

That's a seriously low mileage!

Have I had too many vinos or is that worth preserving as a future mega valuable classic??  There can't be many other Calibras with such a low mileage around, although others on here will put me right.  Looking forward to seeing some pics, the clutch will be shagged from old-person-driving!

There are 16 bottles of cava in the back of my car now, I'm using it as a wine cooler...

Hi thog

I know! It was a case of "it might be a bit scruffy" but with so few inches on it, I had to have it. Got it for silly money too. I figure I will have it for years to come so plenty of time to make the proverbial silk purse. It is already looking better inside with a few bits replaced and a damn good clean.

Oh... did I not mention it's an auto?  8)

Photos are up in the Hello thread.

Hi,

I can't find the 'hello' thread, can you do a link?  In my searching I did stumble on, and started voting in the polls section, there's even a poll on your girlfriend's favourite position!?

P.S.  Personally I would lose the Cavalier, not the best looking car in the world...
