I think i've missed the boat on this one...

does anyone have any experiance of these brands or indeed this online shop, they seem the only place and have two to choose from?

I had a pair on my old 8v.....not shure if they were the same make...after a bit they bent slightly and struggled to hold the bonnet up.

Very true, the bonnet is a heavy lump!

Its the length and the way they fit....mine fitted between one wing bolt and the other end to a bolt on the bonnet hinge.

Indeed that's what I need to know, that's one method I've seen.

Come across this, the omega ones on the cav. They have a bracket with 'self tapping bolts'. Which are not self tapping by the look of it, or they'd be screws!

Well they fit a Calibra!

Work a treat with a special fitment I made, so I didn't have to drill holes in the wing like on the Cavalier in the guide.

Great....nothing like a real forum for stuff like this....Facebook is only good for quick questions.
