They`re very similar and the blue is great too....but what i dislike about it is that it`s obviously blue from every angle.

Mine is much darker on a sunlight, and only the parts lightened by sunbaems are dark purple..so it has a different visual effect as you change your viewing angle.

Heard that one as well and again no real evidence for proof, not even one at the Heritage museum.

I know this is an old thread, but only just read it, and can add to this  ;)

I know someone in Finland who was into his Opels and used to hang out on the forum's over there. This is the info he sent me:

"The only official and still functional factory-made (Opel) Calibra cabrio was made in Finland in a factory named Valmet Automotive (also occasionally known as Saab-Valmet) in a city called Uusikaupunki.

There were 2 red cabrio models made + a raw body base during summer 1992. One was a "rough draft" for testing and durability purposes, one the finalized product and the raw body was for chassis twist and stiffness tests. Both of the roadworthy versions were with 8V engines. The "rough draft" was pretty much destroyed during the testing and the "final version" has been in the factory museum since.

Before the cabrio project began here, the Saab-Valmet factory bought a white Calibra 4x4 cabrio from a German bodyshop as for "competitive comparison" for any manufacturing issues. So if you ever come across a Calibra cabrio on the streets, it's highly unlikely to be a factory-made model but by either the handy owners or the bodyshops out there.

Back in the day Valmet Automotive made a deal with GM to manufacture some of the more limited special versions of the GM cars, mainly of Saab and Opel but that job has since been moved to other locations to other factories. In recent years they've manufactured some versions of Porsche Boxster and Porsche Cayman.

Valmet Automotive has been testing with all kinds of cabrio models and roof technologies and materials, some long before even the original car manufacturers have come up with the ideas.
"

I found out later (can't remember where now) that the car kept in the museum mentioned above was later sold to a private buyer in Finland. Unknown what happened to it after that.

There were a few Prototype cars in the Uusikaupunki Museum. Below is a picture of a Saab 9000 convertible in the museum, and if you look closely next to it, you can just see the edge of the Calibra Convertible. Not the best picture lol, but its the only one i could find. You can see its definitely a Calibra and you can just about make out (I think), that it doesn't have any pillars.
