Need new door seals and weather strips!!!
« on: July 20, 2017, 13:34:09 PM »
cannot find new seals and weatherstrips anywhere so called Vauxhall today and I was told they are no longer available!! Where can I get them from as mine are knackered. Surely with people being able to source everything they need for much older classics I can get some sesls for my calibra!
Any help much appreciated as I'm stuck.

I`m sure i saw a ad in the back of a classic car mag of a place who make rubber seals for older cars...might be worth a look...?

I've looked everywhere! You don't remember the company? Surely I can't be the only calibra owner with this problem

They don't actually look that bad but they let the water in! I've tried pushing them up all up nice and tight in case they may have slumped, and my window goes right up where it should. On closer inspection there are some  deterioration in places! But also my weatherstrips are totally f*cked!!! They are all snapped and in a mess. I'm feeling disheartened because this seems to be the one thing I can't fix/replace and it's causing such a problem

You're not. I just posted a questions asking where I can get repalcement rubbers for the aerial and sunroof. My window seal rubbers are on their way out: the tailgate window gets moisture on the inside.

So getting hold of replacement rubbers from somewhere would be great.

it looks like every calibra owner is going to be faced with the same dilemma!!
I should imagine that if there is such a company that they are going to be very expensive

Tony-r1,

If I've learnt anything from watching Wheeler Dealers, it's that there are plenty of firms out there that could make them as they make something similar for a different industry. We're talking about rubber seals: there must be a company out there that makes something similar using the same rubbers. Surely?

How about a company that makes and supplies rubber seals for OEM?

That's funny because I was thinking of all the car sos and for the love of cars programs I have watched and they seem to get hold of every single little thing they need for old classics so surely weatherstrips and rubber seals for a 90's coupe shouldn't be too difficult. I guess it's a case of hours and hours calling round different places trying to find someone that can help!

Agreed. Someone makes these things.......not necessarily for a Calibra. But they might if asked.

Probably cost £500 a door though lol, then I wonder if something can be done with the weatherstrips!
I will let you know if I find anything

Interesting.....

Wonder if the seals can be "brought back". The window seals are not too bad: it's the sunroof and aerial ones that are splitting. I'll keep searching  :)
