You quote wrong too :D Have a rum for me then chap.
Lewis Hamilton said that winning his first race felt better than having sex. Kimi's reply to that was, Maybe he never had sex.

Lots of things can slow a PC down. One of the worse in my experience are some of the anti-virus software out there. My personal recommendation is AVG, which is also free for private individuals, as in my experience it lets less nasties through and has a lower impact on performance. Performance can also improve by running the Disk Defragmenter.

As above, AVG is still my favourite. I don't know if I'd install the surf shield link scanner jobby though. I've also found Avira to be very good (both are free) though if installing either then do make sure the free versions and not paid demo versions are getting installed. Both are a little sneaky that way, but only a little...

Okay, the post I linked above really really will deep clean anything. Though do set aside a reasonable afternoon to get it all done! If you want a quick and dirty blast away at your machine though, I highly recommend MALWAREBYTES and SPYBOT as both are quite user friendly and very heavy hitters on malware. Install both, update one and run it, then update the other and run it, removing all nasties they find. Job done (usually. As in 99% of the time.)

With Malwarebytes there are no 'gotchas' but with Spybot I don't recommend installing the SDHelper or the Teatimer - historically these components of it were AWFUL. They may be better at this time of writing but I really don't know.

Defragging is perceived to be good practice, but translates to little real world benefit. Have at it though, a good overnight job.

If you have Norton or McAffee (sp?) though, bin them once the machine's cleaned and go AVG/Avira says I.
Das it Miscbrah.

Agree with what you say Miscbrah! Getting rid of your current anti-virus can be a pain. McAffee is a real bugger to get rid of completely, If you download and install a copy of Revo Uninstaller, free version of trial paid for will work equally well and use it exactly according to their say-so it will get rid of all traces of McAffee. A great program that does exactly what it says on the box
