Redtop oil cooler bypass??
« on: March 10, 2010, 11:21:28 AM »
Hi guys,

The oil cooler on my 1993 16v has split and is pouring oil over my driveway. Is it advisable to remove the oil cooler and bypass it and if so, what's the best way to do this? The car is only used to commute to work and is never driven hard so I guess it might not need the cooler?

Hi & welcome to Clubcalibra BDR, please add your location to your profile information.

I'd seriously suggest replacing the oil cooler, bypassing would perhaps be ok in an emergency to get you home (although I wouldn't fancy trying it) but not for normal use.

Get a replacement should be cheap enough.

Where are you located?

In the South East there's a Vauxhall breakers, VPSC - 01255 670670, google.

There's an Official SE2 Owners Register, if you are looking for it click above and add the SE2's details to the register.

If it's the pipe thats split then go to your local Pirtek

If it's the cooler then fit another one (Mocal do upgrades if you want an alloy one)
