Momo steering wheel query...
« on: April 06, 2009, 18:30:08 PM »
...how the hell do you wire the horn up??

It's going into an airbag'd car, and it's bugging the life out of me! There's a brass contact on the steering column that the boss sits against, but no wiring going to it at all... anybody got any ideas at all? Somebody must've fitted an aftermarket wheel and sussed this out...

I have ;)

From the live wire in the horn/airbag loom connect it to the brass connector using a female bullet connector. On the horn switch connect one wire to the body of the boss and another wire to the connection in the boss which goes to the brass ring, job done :)

Any questions just ask :)

So it doesn't require a separate earth wire running to the body of the boss then...?

No mate, on the horn switch which is seperate from the steering wheel is two spade connectors, one goes to the boss body spade and the other goes to the connector on the brass ring which is normally a short lenght of wire with a spade connector on the end, it doesn't matter which connectors you use on the horn switch, either way will work.

I hate the idea of passing wires through something that rotates, lol. So I did the lazy way...

You dont have to pass wires through something that rotates, its the proper way of wiring a horn to anaftermarket boss.

That wasn't the case on mine unfortunately!

Also with it being snap-off doesn't help

Doesn't make any difference with snap-off kits either. The only connection between steering wheel and column is the brass pin. no wires to get twisted.
