how to be a tit and not concentrating on what your doing
« on: October 16, 2010, 21:20:40 PM »
picture this bought some 2nd hand front struts to service paint then swap mine out, only keeping my car off the road for the shortest amount of time just to swap the legs over  :). Good job I'm doing it this way because Ive just fooked up a brand new bearing >:(,i just remembered after i pushed the hub into the bearing i forgot to put the 2nd inner C clip in to stop the bearing coming out >:( ::).You can guess i was calling myself all the friggin names under the sun and more,oh well just been on ebay and ordered another bearing at least doing it this way i can still use the Cally.

The motto to this is to stop every so often and check what you have done or if you get distracted for anything or any reason before you start/continue what you've been doing just go through what you have done so you don't fook up like i have done.

These things happen, mate, with experience you'll fid a lot more ways to stuff up - those that haven't are liars!

My "favourite" is forgetting to refit the rotor after fitting and setting points* in distributors - must have done it well over a dozen (or two) times ...

For the youngsters, back in the Dark Ages, cars used Kettering ingnition, which used a mechanical switch operated by a multi-lob cam which was in the distributor, to operate the coil for the correct spark timing.

atleast its not a too costly mistake mate, if you hadnt remembered then you would have realised half way round a corner instead which would have been a lot worse.

Hehe, I agree, with proper cars - points and carbies, you can easily find any problems and get them fixed.

although you tend to find some home serviced cars with dizzy's don't have the points changed, that can lead to some fun on starting:)

If you put it back together correctly, there is nothing unsafe about it, obviously if you dont know how to do that though you are right its better not to take chances
