Erratic oil pressure
« on: February 10, 2008, 17:33:05 PM »
After recently talking to my wife on the phone, she's informed me that her SE9 has started to get erractic oil pressure readings.

At Idle the oil pressure reads near enough 0 and the pressure light flashes every so often. When driving normal the presure increases to approx 4 and the light stays out.

I changed the oil pressure sender back in December( 2nd ahnd) as the gauge was reading full scale when engine off and this cured the problem guage problem.

There is plenty of oil in the engine.

Is this a case of a dodgy sender or is my oil pump on the way out?

Most likely a dodgy sender, or dirty contacts. But, can you really be sure?

If it was just the gauge I wouldn't worry as they get dirty and give false readings.

However, with the oil pressure light coming on too I'd want it looked at.
