Early Redtop Timing Belt Query

Is there a spring connected to the tensioner pulley backplate on an early Redtop? It looks like it has the provision for one but my trusty Haynes manual doesn't mention one...  ???

Yes, think it does.

If you have to own a Calibra; make sure it's the 4x4 turbo. You dont want to fanny around with a FWD car.
