Change Speedo Cable
« on: May 28, 2017, 14:37:42 PM »
Hi all - had a diagnose at the weekend and my speedo cable has snapped inside (rotating gearbox drive and also end of cable on box end and the other 'cup' end that feeds the dash doesn't rotate.)

Had a feel around and can't see much with the instrument cluster removed, and the cable disappears around the brake servo engine-side. Behind the brake servo I can feel a rubber grommet (I think) where it passes through the bulkhead, but not sure I want to start yanking that around until I know that's correct and how to get a replacement back in again!

Anyone done this and can walk me through it? Do I just pop it out and stuff in back in again?

Ta much. :)

In answer to your last question, I guess! LOL lovely description.
Lewis Hamilton said that winning his first race felt better than having sex. Kimi's reply to that was, Maybe he never had sex.

Lol, cheers! I think I'll make an elaborate spiky 'cone' out of some coat hangers around the speedo end and smear loads of red rubber grease on it, then try and slide that in using the original as a draw wire. Having read around it is indeed a faff and removing the dash is my least favourite thing ever. :(
