Car pulling to the right
« on: May 21, 2006, 23:09:01 PM »
My car pulls over to the right when I'm driving it. It recently passed an MOT with flying colours so it can't be anything serious. Any ideas? I wonder if it's the tracking or maybe the wheel balance is out.
you were correctly parked.
That's not much consolation if some tosspot smashes his vehicle into yours!

Hmmm, either Tracking, Wheel Balancing, Tyre Pressures or maybe just the camber of the road? hehe

Thanks very helpful! :P Better get my road camber sorted out. Where exactly on the car is that situated? ;D

Depends on the road, Diva when I refer to road's camber I mean the way in which the roads naturally lean, in the UK its traditionally to the left, but depending on your roads, its a possibility, hehe. Its not part of the car ;o)

In this country, if it's 'pulling to the right', it isn't like to be the camber of the road...!

If the wheels are unbalanced then you'll notice the car/steering wheel judder at higher speeds. Tyre pressures are always a good one to check though. Failing that then yes, get the tracking checked.

Got after market alloys on there?

If you have to own a Calibra; make sure it's the 4x4 turbo. You dont want to fanny around with a FWD car.

No I think they're the originals. As I'm a girlie I'm not too good on the technical side of things. Ash by the way I was just joking about the road camber. I do know what it is really. :o I'll double check the pressures and then get the tracking done. Thanks all for your help lads. :)

I had a g/f once who did a m/c maintenance class with me.  She used to get really hacked off with blokes who assumed that women were either stupid, or at best incapable of understanding technical things.   >:(
At a m/c club night in a pub one evening, someone who worked at Elite Motors was showing off his 'technical knowledge' & patronising all the women in the group.  You know the sort of thing, either ignoring the women altogether, or explaining technical matters to them in words of one syllable, or dismissing them with a "You wouldn't understand it love."
My g/f started asking him some questions about tuning her bike (a 2-stroke CZ trials bike).  He was only too pleased to have an audience to show off to.  She sucked him in beautifully by pretending to be really impressed by his expertise.  Then she got him to explain, in front of everyone, how to adjust the tappets on her engine...   ???
When he had 'enough rope to hang himself', she expressed surprise that 2-stroke engines like hers have rockers, tappets & valves - because she thought that they just have ports!  He looked like he wished the ground would swallow him up!   :-[
