Calibra Keys stolen - help Calibra running
« on: October 18, 2018, 09:37:17 AM »
hi,
newbie here from Melbourne - Australia.
Yep, car keys got stolen during a berg.
1995 Calibra c20let
Got quoted $450 aussie dollars to fix from a locksmith.
Is it possible to get another ignition lock with key with the
plastic ring that goes around the ignition lock.
To Refit this and start.
Basically swapping out the chipped key and ignition and reader ( ring )
Any help would be great.
cheers
Bryce

Hi Bryce  :)

I just did a google search for Calibra ignition lock and keys..........and loads came up around £13.00 gbp.......they are fairly easy to fit.

I will see if there is a guide somewhere.......I will contact you if I do.

Regards

Turbohead.

Hi.....ok from what i know....

Calibra`s after a curtain year have Immobilizers.....These consist of Key with chip....a ring around the ignition (sensor) and a chip in the ECU...they come as a Threesome.....no chip in the key no start....so....the new key needs to be programmed with a ECU Reader...this reads the code in the chip in the ECU then you can "programme" the chip in the key.

A "blank" key (no chip inside) will let you in the car but not start it......As the ring around the key barrel will not "see" any chip.

Add evo5 chips to remove the immobiliser working, then just change locks
change lock by drilling through it from under steering wheel....or ask nicely at a car key place and they will make a key to fit your lock...sometimes any lock....I lost mine I got a master key made in Bulgaria for 10 euros, made from an old caibra key
