C20let eds ph 3 boost problem
« on: May 04, 2018, 12:48:55 PM »
Hi I have a problem with my eds ph 3 setup, with the power wheel at step 5 I only get 0.5 bar boost and overboost about 1.3 and very quick drops to 0.5 that dose on every step on the power wheel, I have a FMIC and saab red injectors with 4.5 bar fuel pressure, I dont know why I only get 0.5 continous boost. Need help please I have change the half of the turbo(exhaust side) had a few cracks, but still the same 0.5 bar

sorry mate this site fourm is very bad when is come to good advice ....nobody says nothing
, mi self have asked question with defining silence .....
so what i know is if the ecu is controlling boost and you not going over .5 bar.....this is controlled but actuator  (possible problem test . )is your boost staying steady ?

i have almost same set up , saab reds , big fmic , and i have innovate scg1 for afr and boost control. mi arf is rich  especially at full throttle, and iv had boost up to 1.2 bar turbo looks like is gonna melt  , i need better tunning  and deed advice there but nothing .....

back to you have done a boost leak test ? so many veriables to cheak  :) cheers  dude

i've change the actuator and put a spring to hold more boost and it hold for aprox 2 seconds 1.3 bar overboost and it drops quickly at 0.5 bar, i have no boost leak but what is mysterious to me is that when i turn the power wheel ( EDS phase 3) at first step (170hp) i should have 0.3 bar and i still got 0.5 and no overboost, at any turn on the power wheel for example 3 position is aprox 260 hp and it should do 1.1 overboost and 0.9 continous and mine dose 1 bar overboost and 2 seconds later 0.5 :( ps im useing bosch f5dpor sparks ill change the ignition cables and let you know, how is your fuel pressure? try to change your injector from z20leh and set your fuel pressure to 3 bar it should be good, chears mate :)

If your engine senses a fault ike knock it will shut engine to low boost, stopping it going higher but usualy with a jerk of the car as boost shuts down
If the boost just will not rise but does to that level but no misfire then I would say no boost leak as air would be measured and more fuel but air not in the engine so would run rich and misfire and you should hear a leak...don't think a boost leak

I don't know where you are but hot air will cause problems as air temp is high less oxygen in at so car will not like the weather, car will feel slower in summer

First thing I would check the one way valve in the small tube at rear of the cam cover, they do not last long and can cause problems.

Is the air inlet hose to turbo collapsing? it could be,  , when hot they go soft with age and collapse stopping more air entering so stops boost rising, I had this problem even with new silicone ebay pipes

It could be the amal valve, tubes wrong way or split or faulty valve#

Could be cracks in penny valve inside turbo

You can test the boost by removing the tube from the actuator and blocking with a screw the tube, and carefully...very carefully accelerate and see how high boost goes as actuator will not be able to shut down engine if runs lean so don't let boost go too high, if still does not rise add a spring to actuator and try again

hi and thanks for reply where is the one way valve can you post a picture? i have aluminium tubes :D and FMIC, i don't know what to say about the amal valve good or bad, the penny vale is in excelente conditions and i instaled a spring at the actuator i don't know what it could be wrong?
Thanks mate

I have no picture of the one way valve on this computer but on the cam cover at the back corner near the fuel pressure regulator, 2 tubes one large and one small, the small goes to inlet I think under the fuel injectors  , half way along it breaks for the valve , the valves get oil inside and jam open or closed
