« on: May 13, 2006, 16:44:24 PM »
Hi guys, i'm a new member to this great community. I have a problem and was hoping you could help.
When driving, my brake pad wear warning light comes on intermittently, i have only just put new pads on and am unsure of what is wrong.....can anyone suggest what is the problem?!
Thanks
Tom

i think u can join the wires together to make a complete circuit.

ok sounds like something fairly straightforward, but there's nothing to worry about with it coming on though if you guys experience the same problem?

Cut the sensor off and join the wires together and then tie up out of the way, Light does not come on problem solved.

Robbie's Correct. Done that myself.

If you have to own a Calibra; make sure it's the 4x4 turbo. You dont want to fanny around with a FWD car.

Hi,

Ok - assuming you are talking about the red pad wear warning light and not the orange check-control brake light warning then James et al are correct. You can replace the wear tab clicked into the brake pad or simply short out the leads.

The tab works by having a conductor near the surface. When the pads wear the disc slowly grinds away the tab until the conductor is cut and the resulting open circuit switches on the pad wear light.

I this the light Manfred?...

Is this the light you are all talking about?

This came on last week!  I have new pads and new disks (mine are very worn) on order.

Will the light turn out when I replace the parts, or will I have to cut the sensor??  ???

Depends if you fooked the sensor by running to low on the pad and wearing it away.
