4wd not staying engauged
« on: June 17, 2018, 14:05:01 PM »
Hi Guys,
Any 4x4 experts out there? having problems with mine, When you start it up light goes out but comes back on after about 1 min and stays on unless you switch off and start up again. If I switch the wiring connectors on the pressure switch with out starting ing on I get a flashing 4wd  light. So am thinking this switch might be goosed?. I have been told on here that the brake light switch can cause problems so have ordered one just in case. The whoosh test was good 32 whooshs. Have new bulb fitted and a replacement hyd system also have bled system as per CAV16 website. No leaks on outside or coming out txb breather.
Am stuck can anyone help.  Ps Can't read 4x4 ECU as no J pin and can't find working tech1 up here.

Cheers  Rod

Hi scotrock

I would go with your gut feeling about the switch...........I have always advised that a Switch or Sensor.......wiring harness......electrical contacts

can all go faulty and play up.  So google to find a method of testing the switch.........lots on......"You Tube"........check the wiring and plug

contacts for corrosion.  What I have found on my car that due to age and underbonet heat the insulation around the wires goes hard and tends to

crack rather bend............they also sometimes get covered in oil which can cause a short.

The rest of your post is good don't worry too much.
