The ABS makes noises and plucks something. However, it should not be uncomfortable.
What are the your brakes? Do they have a deep rim on the disc?
What is the brake fluid? Honey color or black?

Vibrations on the steering wheel when braking >> brake disc has unbalance
Knocked out vibrations on the steering wheel while driving >> wishbone or stabilizer rubber
Taking the car while braking (steering wheel release) after a page? If so brake caliper firmly determined.

Sorry but my english is not so good. Attempts to help but mash I do not understand while reading.
