Wow  :o And I thought it was us poor old Brits that got tucked up on the price of good and services.

Hope you get that sorted. When my Ecotec played up we traced it to the relay unit by the footwell. A new one was fitted and hey presto, all was good again.
Cheers Will. That's what I initially thought too, plug it in and it'll be all good. Typically though with my luck it just has to be more complicated than that. It's a bugger as I was really looking forward to driving it around again as it's perfect sunroof weather at the moment being the dry season.

Rather than focus on that relay which may be a false lead, is it possible to discount other issues?  Firstly it may not be fuel related and the pump may be working fine, you can tell by depressing the little valve nipple on the fuel rail and fuel will spirt out of it when you try to start the car.

if it is fuel then can you put your head under the car and connect the pump direct to the battery and bypass the electrics to see if it runs? I appreciate that is for an external pump and won't be so easy for an internal one.

Yep, I've checked the rail and there's no pressure and I've got my hands on some lengths of wire to check the fuel pump (thankfully it's external)which was fine last time so it might have carked it but I'm not expecting that to be the case. The fuse for the fuel pump is also fine which to my mind leaves the relay block and the connections.

Yes!

You get to check your earths... fuel rail x 2, inner wing near battery etc if you've not already done so.

It lives!!!!!!!
Was getting to the stage where I thought I'd have to get the professionals. I was fixated on the relay connections but wasn't getting anywhere. Then I decided to lock the car and let the alarm arm itself, then I unlocked the car. Bloody thing started first time didn't it?!
Lesson learnt. Try the IT fix first!! Turns out the original relay was fine once I worked out how to test it so I have it as a spare.
Thanks for all the input and info everyone.

Seems like it. Never had that issue before and I keep the car on a charger so the battery doesn't go stale. It was a bit of a " Hail Mary" solution before having to get a sparky in but it worked.

I have been. Took it to the beach today. Still can't believe that after 22 years of owning this car, with no modifications, how well it drives and handles. Mind you, going from my Pajero back to the Cally, I feel like I'm in a go-cart!!!

I know what you mean, I did a drive from Peterborough down to Bournemouth on the weekend and the car felt great. Not fast though! And rubbish brakes! And once she was washed, I went for a drive / pose down to Sandbanks and the SE6 certainly stood out. Got a few complementary looks and comments.

The sad thing: in the 400 plus miles I drove there and back, I didn't see a single Calibra on the road.
Drives: an original SE6 auto, 81,000 miles (approx) and still going strong......(but some work is needed!). Now my second car.

When I drove from Melbourne to Cairns and Adelaide to Cairns I didn't see any Calibras either and each of those trips were over 3,000 kms! Mind you, I wouldn't expect to see any in rural oz anyway.

3000kms..!!  :o That's a drive and a half!

Yes, the Calibra's are getting rarer and they'll be less of them still on the roads. I half exect to see one turn up on a car restoration program every time I tune in, e.g. Car S.O.S, Wheeler Dealers, For The Love of Cars, etc......

So long as there are a few crazies who keep them on the roads  :)

Hi,
The trouble of having a car now that's as rare as a Calibra, apart from the spares issue, its that friends recognize the car when out driving and wave and you don't see them and then being called a miserable old git for ignoring them. As for seeing other Calibra's I saw one go through Wycombe about a month ago. Didn't Clarkson say on The Grand Tour that there was only left 325 on the road.
