Replacement Front Wing Fitment?
« on: June 14, 2011, 22:34:57 PM »
Hi all

I have found a new wing for my calbra  :) ;) :).

So my next question is how do i change the wing ? Also due to the dent in the wing, the door will not open  more than an 1" to 2"  :-\ :-\ is this going to be a problem ??? ??? :-\ :-\ .

Does any one have any pics on how to do it  ???

Thanks very much for the help  :) :) :)

Title amended, please don't use caps lock.

As far as I know it's a bolt on part, you'll probably have to remove front bumper I would assume and wheel arch liner to access all the bolts. Not done it myself on a Cally but should be fairly easy I would of thought.

Yup itS just bolted on.....theres about 8 on the top edge of the wing with the bonnet up....then one bolt down the bottom front near the bumper...then pne more near the bottom of the door(wich means you might have to removed the side skirts)

There's also one inside the door shut which can be a bluddy nightmare. You'll need your door open for it so even if you have to mangle the existing wing to get it open it will be necessary.

It is at the top, just below the level of the wing mirror. It can be removed without damaging anything, I've done it several times (last time was less than 2 weeks ago).

Open the door fully & you'll see it.

Thats the prob. I can only open the door by about 1" to 2" because of the dent in the wing.

thanks

As Phil said then, you may have to remove every other bolt first to bend the f*ck out of it to get the door open!

the picture above shows the two bolt holes under the front bumper

the arrow A just shows the direction of the front of the wing this part of the wing you can see in the doorshut, bolt B is the pain to get at its behind the the panel next to the accelerator pedal just above the engine ecu

this bolt above is at the top of the wing you will have to get the door open to undo this one i might be slightly covered buy the windscreen rubber/doorshut rubber

this bolt you have to remove the plastic valence under the doorsill you can get away with probably undoing the front bolts then holding it down to get at this one

the bolts on the top of the wing you can get at buy opening the bonnet  hope this helps regards harry

Can't believe no-one else (myself included) remembered to mention that one. I had a fight with the wing the first time I removed one until I found that bolt on the inside!

Helpful post dude! :)
