Bit extreme using a tree trunk as an axle stand but it seems to work :)

Sometimes I even use ( wooden blocks ) three trunks as stands, even when car is on the bridge. So I can move the bridge up and down, instead of a fixed point with axle stands! Handy when you need to change an engine or something.
Memorable quotes: " 19 people in a cave made NORAD stand down ".

I use a mix of spare wheels and some handy sized bits of timber, and so far not had any problems.

you really shouldnt mock it until you have tried it!

A mate of mine held the front end of a mk4 astra up with nothing but spare wheels when he was sliding the new engine underneath ready for fitting, and his driveway is on a slope!!
