Its a Phillips CED780 think its the same as this one:
http://www.philips.co.uk/c-p/CED780_05/car-audio-video-system

I would have preferred to have a double din size one but that would have meant cutting the dash and i didn't want to lose the nice oil / battery gauges.

Only problem is you have to use spacers to bring it out from the dash otherwise the screen can't open properly

Got this now for my trip computer.

Had a little look today as well and I have the plug for the computer but not for the control switch so I will probably have to wire it in. Unless anybody has tried this before and found a plug?

Ok so a quick update...

Found the wires for the trip computer but not for the control switch so a bit of wiring to be done  ::)

Wired it in in the heat of the day yesterday...

and cut the hole for the control switch:

Result! An installed switch and a soaked shirt...

Will update once it is all back together

Ok so now have Problems   >:(

Have the computer and switch in the car:

Over the last few journeys it has been giving very wrong economy. Instant hovering around 190 mpg and an average of over 130 miles per gallon! Also because of this the range is very high as well. Has anybody encountered these problems before? Help Needed Please   :'(

Not sure I can help but will try. What car model and year did it come out of and what are you trying to fit it to? Does the average speed calculate correctly?

Doing some digging, is yours or the donor car the same 2.0 or is one redtop and one ecotec by any chance? Seems that they have to be programmed depending on the model. Tech1 is needed (allegedly) - I'll keep digging.

Press and hold the select and reset buttons down together then switch the ignition on (no need to start it, keep buttons pressed down) - it should give an odd looking number in the top part of the display and some letters and numbers in the bottom.

When you release the buttons it should then show you a new number in the lower display which tells you the revolutions per mile - lots of info here: http://www.vauxhallcavalier.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=6513&sid=5adf565fa1192045bc6a46c2c3750ece&start=25

Hope it helps.

Thanks for all your replies.
The car it came out of is the same engine, 2.0 16v ecotec 1996 se7 and have put it into a 1998 16v ecotec se8.
the average speed seems to work correctly.
I will study the link you have given - Thanks  :)

You'll need to get it reprogrammed, there was an excel list of the codes but I can't find it. I don't think you have the right one. Apparently it is supposed to tie up with the digits stamped on the lower right of the VIN plate on the slam panel. Visit here and see if you can contact the guy, seems he offers a programming by post service http://www.abs-zero.com/fuel-computer-programming/fuel-computers/
