V-ribbed belt length
« on: May 08, 2016, 17:49:09 PM »
So I am just working on my '93 C20NE Calibra and I got the V-ribbed micro belt and its a 6PK1900 and its too long. There's not much info on the right one but it says everywhere that it should fit, so we cut the old one and measured it and it turned out to be 1805mm. Can anyone confirm this is right or is there another problem here? Thanks.

It should be 1725 without AC and 1900 with. I guess you don't have AC? And maybe the belt has stretched?

I do have AC, that's why this is so strange, I can hardly believe you can compensate for like 80mm +/-.

Very weird.... When I just checked online parts supplier those were the two lengths specified. You've got an odd one! Have you tried Vx themselves?

Even checking ecat http://ecat24.com/opel/catalog/part/1/11/572/469/4758/ there's only two lengths!?!? Crazy.

I know I have researched this and the only Opel that turns up with 1805mm belt is a Corsa B which is an entirely different engine. By Vx you mean the V shape of the belt? The belt fits nicely everywhere, it just comes up long and I am sure we were trying to put it on right.

Oh sorry, my bad - VX - I meant Vauxhall - have you checked with a dealer parts counter. But I now see you're in Slovenia so Opel dealer! Maybe if you check with them? You can't make 80mm disappear, like you said!

Sorry I'm not used to the term Vauxhall that much haha. I checked online and all the stores only sell 1725 and 1900 for the Calibra. I have no idea where to go next, the tensioner can't possibly make that much dissapear and we haven't really changed anything else. I might go pick up a 1725 and a 1805 tommorow and just try, we will see. But any advice is still welcome.

PS. I do have to point out it's a quite bizzare Calibra, tail lights have no foglight socket, interior has wooden trim pieces (I have never seen another one like that) and all sorts of weird stuff.

Get some pics up, the wooden trim was an option but I have only seen it in a brochure.

Have you rung Autovaux?

Bought a 1805 belt, threw it on, fits perfectly... my guess would be unoriginal AC compressor and/or crank pulley so there's that, mystery solved.
