SE9 Power Steering Pump
«

Hi Folks!
I have a late SE9 with a power steering pump that's on its way out (metal filings in oil and grinding) so I started to search the forum for where to get a replacement or get mine overhauled and then discovered that GM changed the pump at some stage and all the available ones (90410957) don't fit mine. I then found what I believe to be the right one (90531706) but can't get one from anywhere unless I pay hundreds of pounds (GM or import). Does anyone know anything about why they changed the pump and if the older one would fit or what the difference is? More importantly, does anyone know where I can get it repaired or find a replacement without being ripped off?
Any & all help gratefully received - I've been on this site a while but never posted before so apologies if I'm not doing it right!
Thanks

Thanks for reply Alan, much appreciated, I will check it out. Do you know if they are the same part number? I don't know why they changed it and my concern is that I will end up with the earlier one! Was yours a later one? I don't know what the difference is either!
I called Vauxhall yesterday and they said both part numbers were obsolete and therefore not available and couldn't even tell me which one was right for mine.
I'm struggling with this one so any more help would be gratefully accepted.
Thanks again
Sean

Try giving Autovaux a bell.

Thanks ALZ1307, tried them and they want £594 plus delivery!
I've now managed to establish that the right part number (and most difficult to find) is 90531706 from a helpful Vauxhall dealer parts guy. He could not tell me what the difference is between the two though or if the older one will fit so I'm kinda back to square 1 unless I pay £600 plus to Autovaux.
The Vectra one won't fit either because the part number is not available from Vauxhall so it must be a different one.
I could strip it and overhaul it myself but I can't even find anywhere to get a rebuild kit that includes gears/vanes or whatever type of pump it is.
Help!

Thanks everyone for your help, looks like I'm going to have to try and find a scrappy with a late SE9?
I'll let you know what I discover and how it turns out.

That's what I thought but there are definitely 2 different part numbers & Vauxhall say the other one won't fit? I think I might just try fitting any V6 pump & see if it works. It might just be the pulley!
Will let you know how I get on.
Thanks

Thee are two engines, C25XE and X25XE you want the X. SE only refers to colour and wheels really on yours!
