Sounds like it may have gone again did you just change the gasket? it may have needed skimming

When you say you "had (your) head gasket changed", did you mean that you got a garage to do it for you?  If so, how long ago was that?  The work they did should be covered by a warranty for at least 3 months and longer, if the workmanship was sub-standard ('not fit for purpose').

If the head needed skimming when they had it off to change the gasket, they should have told you.  There would have been an extra charge for skimming, but there is no point putting a new gasket on, if the head (or, less likely, the block) does need skimming.

Just because there is no water in the oil, doesn't necessarily mean that there is no oil, or fuel, in the coolant.  A head gasket leak may be one way only and allow oil, or fuel to get into the coolant, but not the other way round.  Fluid in the leak can only go one way at a time; as a leak becomes enlarged by the passage of fluids, it may be possible for fluids to be sucked or blown one way and then the other, contaminating both the coolant and the oil.

it was a mobile mechanic and he said the head did not need skimming so i don't no TBH. could it be anything El's or dose it point straight to the head gaskit?

Gunk in the coolant is bound to be oil, it's likely your head does need skimming or he has not tightened the head bolts to the correct torque. The head gasket is the only real place that the coolant and oil could mix on an 8v.

Actually mate, before you ring him your system might still have gunk in it from before the head gasket was changed. undo your bottom hose on the radiator and drain the coolant out of the engine and pour clean water into the coolant tank so it flushes through the system. When you have done this, reconnect the bottom hose and refill the system. run the car for a while and see if the gunk reappears.

+1
When I had my Red Top head gasket done it took a few flushes tbh to get 'all' the crap out. For the cost of a skim what £30-40 I would of done it as a matter of course tbh!

certainly not one that can leak into the coolant.
