Lewis Hamilton said that winning his first race felt better than having sex. Kimi's reply to that was, Maybe he never had sex.

Anyone got the part number for the gasket?

I'd like one in reserve should I b*llock the existing one.
I'm pleased I fitted a telly in my Calibra. It gives me something to watch when I'm waiting for the RAC.

Just a note for anyone else in this position. I also had a hose pipe with a big hole in it that was allowing too much air into the "carb" area, the air flow mass meter needed replacing (go to Vaux-World for an inexpensive replacement and I reckon I had a small fuel leak - other than that ready for F1 :P

I know I should have checked on here first as this has happened to my 2.5i Calibra twice in 6 month, even though Ive had the car for 5 years now. The garage has been good enough to do it for me for ?20 and said its because I dont use the car enough or going on too many short journeys. I only do 1000 miles a year and only about 3/4 miles when I do go out but now I see I can do it myself as they said its at the bottom of the engine. The power either drops off or races as I come to a stop.
Good job I drove old minis as using all 3 pedals at once has really got me home or back to the garage. Thanks

What more more do you need to know that the clear pictures & instructions at the begining of this guide don't provide?

Clearly you need to be a little more clear!

You hadn't said anywhere that you have cleaned out the ICV & "that round thing with the flaps inside it" is the Throttle Body.

Same thing, squirt with carb' cleaner & use a cloth to wipe it. Repeat until clean (or not "piggin") & use your fingers to move the butterfly (the flap inside) to get around that with the cloth.

You should be able to move the butterfly with your finger, it is sprung loaded though so use a little force.

Only moves one way though, push down on one side of it & if it really won't budge then try the other. If it couldn't move, you wouldn't move either as the throttle cable opens & closes that! It that's filthy then it really needs a good clean out.

I'm having a complete "brain fart"!

Just move the sprung loaded lever on the side of the throttle body that the throttle cable attaches to, that'll open & close the butterfly.

It's been a long day...........
