I have tried to add some pictures of the pipe from inside the tank.
The pictures are too big to be uploaded so I will post them on the new facebook page. Here is the description of what you will see.
It should be one solid rubber pipe, as you can see it has perished to an inner and outer part with the mesh in the middle. You can pull it apart easily and there were holes where it joined the connector to transfer to the outside of the tank.
The other picture shows part of what I blew out of the fuel lines, I think it is perished rubber from the rubber fuel pipes inside and outside of the tank.
So if you have had a car that has been stored for a few years this is something to think about. Quite lucky really that none of those bits of rubber found their way into the injectors.
