Hello from Belgium
« on: March 15, 2018, 18:34:38 PM »
Hello all from Belgium!

After 15 years I'm a Calibra-owner again. Only then I drove one on a daily base, now it's a restauration project.
I've been on the lookout for one for a while, but only wanted the same model I had back in the day, and they are becoming quite rare around here. But I found one last week.
15 years ago I was also member of a forum, where I got a lot of help but I don't think it exists anymore. Today I have way more experience with cars and mechanics overall but I always enjoyed that community-feeling where people can help each other, share experience etc. So I finally ended up here :-)

The Cally I bought is a 1990 2.0 16v redtop, 100% stock. It will need little work actually, but it's a project so I won't be doing only what's necessary but will probably mod it a bit and improve where I can, nothing over the top.

As always, pictures will tell more:

I LOVE it! Exactly the same as my first Calibra back in '99!!!
Lewis Hamilton said that winning his first race felt better than having sex. Kimi's reply to that was, Maybe he never had sex.

Hi  ;) Welcome.
and congratulations on your purchase.

After 15 years they have become even more desirable......and getting rarer.

Yours is a nice looking car and due to your experience has a good future.

Looking forward to your input

Thank you all!

After being able to take a more thorough look, the car is indeed in overall good shape, just some minor bodywork being done soon.
I'm taking some bits apart now, trying to complete what is missing and/or broken. Most of it under the bonnet where I found a lot of loose wiring, blocked-off vacuum lines... Trying to get that sorted first along with a good cleaning of the engine bay :-)
