« on: January 11, 2010, 15:45:16 PM »
Can anyone advise me as to which HID conversion kit I should purchase. I have seen so many with prices ranging from £49.99 - £150.00 Also if you have a kit fitted was the benefit of more light as stated by manufacturer. PLEASE HELP, many thanks Wolfie.

To Jamesboy

Many thanks for your prompt reply & info. the 6000 is the light kit that has been suggested to me, my only decision is which one to buy. I have been looking at a company based in Southampton price of kit £97.86 which they have reduced by some £50.00

I got a set from ebay similar to the link above about £45, think I got 6000watt, ice blue colour.  Had no problems at all, best mod ever for a calibra, I have never needed the use of my front fog lights since, and rarely need to use my full beam.
They are a bit tricky to install as there is little room behind the lights, that's pretty much the only thing bad about em.

Just take the lights out? and just rest em on summit near your car surely is the easiest way then?

Glad i got the 6000 right haha, id of looked a right tit ;D

Yeah..i'd go on ebay and get them off there..I got a set for £19.99!...quality...thet was really lucky though..i'd expect around £45. Last time I looked there were loads..don't be put off by them coming from China thats where mine were from and had no trouble. Fiited self and quite easy once you have your bumper and headlight units out.

6000k is the temperature (colour) of the bulbs, a fairly bright white.

Going higher (8000k) is more blue, through to purple at higher temps.

Look in my build thread, I've got plenty of pics of me fitting and testing mine

I got the 6000K 55W HIDs. Best thing I've bought for the Cali except for petrol.

If you want a "whiter" light, you need the colour temp around 5000K. 4300K is more yellow, though brightest, similar to sunlight.

Don't forget, you need H1 type bulbs.

Loads on EBay at the moment, from around £37 upwards.
You've gotta grab life by the haunches and hump it into submission!!

I recently enquired about the fitting of HID unit & am now pleased to report that the kit has been fitted. What a difference, I can now actually see the road & a lot more at nights compared with the birthday candle standard lights that I had. Well worth the cost.

From another thread I saw you got them from HIDS4U.co.uk
If you'd read my thread here you could have saved 2/3's of the money you spent.

Glad you've joined the Elite and got the HIDs though.
