EGR Valve blocking. A good or bad thing?!!

Just a quick read about EGR valves!!! What are your thoughts on this?

Good read. I was asking about the point in blocking this off the other day..now i got the definative answer!! Result

Brilliant!  So well explained.  I've also heard that some engines, because they have been designed to run with an EGR, can run very badly with the EGR blocked off...

Good job mine has a k&n fitted then ;D cost ?40 so once you've done four cleans its paid for itself really as your not buying new filters every year.

But another Interesting read though mate.

Yeah as a life long filter they probably work out cheaper. ?40 for your average performance filter and ?5 a time for paper ones.  I wonder how well they work over time if not cleaned and oiled correctly? A lot of that web stuff is pretty good?
