Guide to Removing the Calibra's Interior
« on: March 04, 2007, 15:26:39 PM »
Today i extracted my interior so i could deep clean all the carpets and get all that nasty dirt cleaned up.

Heres how to do it, ( pics at the bottom )

1. All you need for this job is a Crosshead Screwdriver & 13mm Socket.

2. Remove ALL plastic trim from around the front seats. The main one is the large one which goes along the side of the seat. This is removed firstly by locating the screw in the front of the trim. Just under the seat height winder. Unscrew this and the whole trim should come straight off. There is a small plastic trim also at the back of the seat( nearest the centre consol ). This comes off with persuasion from a screwdriver.

3. Remove the winder handle for the height adjustment. There is a cross head screw in the middle of this so just unscrew and the winder pulls straight off.

*REMEMBER TO MAKE THE PRETENSIONER SAFE* Instructions on cylinder.

4. Now it's time to unbolt the seats. These are located in all 4 corners of the seat. The bolts are 13mm. The bolt nearest the centre consol is the most tricky to get out but not a problem.

5. Tilt the seat back so that it rests on the rear seat. This will allow you to unclip the cable which is attached for the heated seats. Now that it is done you can lift the seat right out of the car.

( Quick Tip ) Now the seat is out it is a good idea to put the bolts back in the holes so you don't loose them.

Repeat for the other seat and that will get the 2 front seats out.

Now for extra cleaning it is possible to take out the centre consol. Here's how to do it.

1. Remove the rubber mat from inside the tray located behind the handbrake lever.

2. In the two holes you can see are 2 cross head screws. Unscrew these.

3. When the handbrake is off your lever is over a piece of plastic which is slightly recessed. This is just cliped in place and you need to remove this to get to the last screw.

4. Once removed unscrew the screw and this will relese the centre consol....But don't pull yet.

5. You will now see a yellow terminal box with a silver catch on it. Push the catch toward the front of the car and this will release the window cables.

6. You now need to remove the handbrake gaiter. This is just held on the handbrake by a small recess in the handle. Just pull Straight off.

7. Now screw the screws back into the holes so you don't loose them.

8. Now you have an empty area in whick to work.

It looks alot but i had mine out in 20 mins. The clean i gave was thoruogh and really gave the car a sence of cleanliness.

To put all the interior back in just reverse your steps.

My little wheel that turns up/down the brightness of the dash lights has died. How do I remove it and can I get a replacement?

Hello, do you know how to remove the trim panels on the outer sides of the foot wells, they are the ones at the ends of the sill panels, they one has the bonnet release next to it, and the passenger side has a little flap on it, there is a square fastener on the front edge which pulls out, but i am still unable to remove the panels, the other clips just popped off, also do you know where the heated seat wires could be, they are not under the carpet and i have looked behind most of the dash, Thankyou for your help, regards David.
