Fitting a media/satnav to a Calibra
« on: December 29, 2020, 19:13:35 PM »
Folks,

I was wonder whether anyone fitted a media/satnav system - either vauxhall (astra, mokka, insignai, etc) or aftermarket - to a Calibra? I've looked online and I can't see anything: a satnav system, replacement housing/facia, etc?

I think that and an updated aircon/climate control from a current vauxhall would be a useful upgrade.

Does anyone know if anyone has done this conversion?

Thanks, Will
Drives: an original SE6 auto, 93,000 miles (approx) and still going strong......(but some work is needed!).

You can get a single din unit with a flip out screen very cheaply from Wish (probably ebay also) with sat nav for around £40... seen on another forum.
not sure what the reception is like..they usually have rear view camera also.

I think unless you buy a folding single din unit as suggested it’s an arts and crafts exercise. It has been done... a saw to start with then some fibre glass and paint to create the surround. There’s a few sites selling generic adapters which you may be able to use to make some of the work simpler.

lammy / agw9262,

Thanks for the replies: it seems that the single din unit is the easiest option. I'll look to get one and hopefully its an easy plug and play set up so there is no complicated wiring to deal with!

And I'll look into seeing what (Vauxhall) media/satnav system and aircon/climate control unit would "fit" into a centre console to see if I can "arts and craft" a solution.......with a bit of fibre glass if need be.

Those aftermarket Chinese ones usually need some soldering of wires to get all the functions  :-\.
