« on: March 14, 2016, 21:07:52 PM »
Need some help

Have tried to get hold of a set of front coil spring for my v6 SE9 1998

But no one has any in stock  with the exception  eBay  where

I have noticed on some seller are saying the 20 16v and 2.5 v6 are the same

I have read the the se9 and the 2.0 turbo had 20mm lower from factory

On checking GM part number they are not the same

Can any one advise

MOT FAILURE SO UP THE *^%# WITH OUT A SPRING

Thanks

They are not the same no.
Lewis Hamilton said that winning his first race felt better than having sex. Kimi's reply to that was, Maybe he never had sex.

The front springs on the V6 have a higher lb/in rate as the engine is heavier. I had to hunt around last autumn - as you say they are not exactly off the shelf! These people helped me out - http://www.spring-loaded.co.uk/index.php   In the end I replaced the springs and dampers all round as besides a broken spring I had a leaking damper. Springs and dampers should always be replaced in pairs. PM me if you want more info - I tend to login on a daily basis...

Thanks for the link
Agree spring to be changed in pairs

Did they supply original spec for did you go for an upgrade kit

One company has suggested an upgrade but only in a lowering kit form

Would like to keep the standard

Will call them tomorrow

Thanks again

Yes that is what I have found out

Problem has been that some suppliers have tried to sell me 20 16v springs

Have looked at a lowering kit for the v6 that would be close the factory fit

Will call Mill Quip on Monday

Would you have the part numbers from you purchase last year

Thanks again for you advice

My Callie was allegedly delivered with SE9 springs - it has always been lower than standard. It also has a full Irmscher rear spoiler. The springs from http://www.spring-loaded.co.uk/index.php are -30mm.
