I think they are PROM chips so not able to be erased and reprogrammed...

EPROM (erasable programmable read-only memory)  im having a guess nobody's  working on efi programming , im looking for any info i can regarding GMs software...  the eds chips and like wise are  reprogrammed or flashed with new spark and fuel map.
there are quite a few tuneing software out there at the moment , im just having a hard time finding which one right of the calibra application,
i was hoping on this forum i would find a knowledgeable  motorhead ::)

If you go on YouTube all the 2.0 vauxhall turbo engines that don't fall apart use MegaSquirt to replace the ECU. But you have to take a hit of a least 400 squid to make it work well. The system looks pretty good (electronics engineers view) and they have auto tune software for your laptop. Pushing the standard ECU is possible but the price of not quite getting it right is far higher than going with a MegaSquirt system, also remember electronic computers (i.e.the ECU) don't last forever and will eventually fail so if your going to upgrade, better with a newly manufactured one.

you  have a good point there about reliability , sumthing like megasquirt would the better way to go in the end
