For some reason most people don't seem to like long cruises at Club meets.  One reason for this is that they like just meeting up with fellow club members and looking at their cars, rather than driving in a long convoy.  Another is that it can be very difficult to keep a big convoy together over long distances.  In other words they prefer socialising to driving.

I suspect that Ipswich to Colchester would be more like the kind of distance people might be prepared to travel, in addition to getting to and from the meeting.  Or Ipswich to Shotley, or somewhere like Pin Mill (lunch at the Butt & Oyster overlooking the foreshore?), or Flatford Mill, perhaps for some picturesque backdrops.
