Sticky Electric Windows

Sticky windows are a damn pain - and so here's how you cure them!

Use silicon grease on the fibre runners i.e. the bit the actual window runs in. If this doesn't cure the problem completely, remove the door card/panel, and lubricate the running gear.

Thats it!

In Addition...

Sticky Electric Windows 2

Have you ever wondered what this button does? It just sits there alongside the two electric window buttons minding its own business, you have no need for pressing it, and Calibra owners rarely know even what the button does!

WELL, infact you'd be amazed at just how useful it can be, especially in Winter. Basically the mechanism of the Calibras windows prevents them from trapping any objects in its path, this helps to prevent damage to the windows motor, and also is an excellent safety measure.

The handy little button tells your window to disregard this instruction and to carry on with raising the window, whether there's an obstruction or not - This proves VERY handy in Winter when the window refuses to rise, or when you have Stick Window syndrome, just hold down the button, together with your 'raise' window button and hey presto, problem solved!

When my window sticks I just open the door. That works!!!!  ;D Seriously glad to hear it is a common problem. I will get it sorted properly now.
you were correctly parked.
That's not much consolation if some tosspot smashes his vehicle into yours!

wd40 is really a bad idea! it's a mineral oil it WILL perish the window rubbers. silicone grease if anything at all. Do the job properly or not at all is a good addage to consider.

Here's how to reset the safety function on the windows, if your window closes then opens slightly this will work for you.Disconnect the battery for 5mins, reconnect you will now notice the auto function has now stopped working. To reset it close the window and hold the up button for around 5secs. Found this out by accident when my battery went last week I had a dodgy passenger window now it's ok :)

well as posted above, you may have a small blockage...a safety function so there is no fingers and heads cut off, @ times when i try close my window, it closes to a certain point and then reopens! try lubeing her up :) and if not, try the manual method....push upwards while its automatically closing upwards...brute force :)
