Autobox flashing s light guide

Been having problems with my autobox and after much searching found this webpage i thought may interest other auto owners on here

scary stuff though, not sure I'd attempt this myself. I'll pay anyone on here who'll do this for me  :)

That was my first thought as well, am sure some of our members are capable (or daft) enough to try it though.

I did it last weekend and its not as bad as it looks. Garage quoted me £50 to do this or £160 to fit a new switch. This guide saved me money  ;D

Yeah it's working great i am so happy, i have had this problem since i bought the car and now i can just get in and drive with no worries  ;D

Great advice as I too some time get the flashing S in cold conditions so I think i'll have a crack at it while my cars off the road

Ya thanks sparky im hopeing to do the switch 2moro havent had much time just bought the car expensive on parts here but i like the way they drive anyway ill be back to let you all know how it goes cheers thanks sparky :)

Good advice but by no means the only cause of flashing 'S'

Another common cause is damp in the ECU or connectors.
It is located in the windscreen scuttle.

Low or old Transmission fluid (usually when warmed up)
Blocked filter in gear box.

Cleaning the selector is not a terrlible job but my advice would be to get another from a scrappy (lots of auto cavs/astras around, grab the ecu while you are at it) refurb that then swap it.
