Earlier before christmas I said i was gonna to try to organise a Clubcalibra Rolling Road Day (Open for all) and today ive been emailing a few companys that cater for the Dyno. Now I spoke to Splinter on msn earlier to ask if he knows of anywhere we can use for a Rolling Road Shootout day and he came up trump and it turned out the guy who does it worked for power engineering.

He recommended to me a company called "Torque of the devil" and I think they are just what we are looking for.I basically put some questions to a guy called Andy and he came back with all information as I requested.

The dyno has the capacity to measure and graph the power and torque output of your engine, as well as boost pressure and air fuel ratio, these graphs are then available in a colour printed document for you to study. The dyno also has the power to snapshot data over the entire operating speed of your engine during the run so we can highlight any problems, current or potential. Visit our gallery to view images and videos of vehicles on our dyno.
Our dyno is available for club rolling road days and "independent engine tuner" hire with operator. Please call for details.
The technical info, for those of you who may appreciate it, appears below.

Rolling Road Services

We specialise in tuning and fault diagnosis on electronic fuel injected cars from the early eighties to present day. Our dyno operator has over 10 years experience in this field.
We are able to supply, fit and calibrate mappable engine management systems for "one off" vehicles and also have experience with jetting many popular carburettors, eg., Weber, Dellorto and SU to name but a few. We have previously re-jetted vintage Ferrari's worth in excess of £35M because we are trusted and the owners know they are in safe hands.
Our work can be very varied and so can the vehicles we work on. We are not aiming to specialize in one particular marque and have worked on all manner of cars ranging from 100 bhp Fiesta's to 800 BHP Nitrous injected Dodge Vipers. We are extremely experienced with Ford, Subaru and Mitsubishi vehicles but have equally worked on many more besides.

Here are the few questions I gave to him to answer:

How much will each person be required to pay for car the to be put onto the dyno for the shootout?
Upto 10 cars will be £45 per person, over 10 cars will be £35 per person (this includes VAT)

Is it for 2wd cars or 4wd?
This is a good 4wd dyno for turbo applications

*do we get a free printed results graph for our bhp/afr/boost/etc
You will get a graph presented to you in a folder with whatever information you like on it

* do you provide any free refreshments you can provide ie Tea/coffee/snacks (like ive seen at a few other dyno places) –
We will provide you with tea and coffee and also bacon and sausage sandwiches (all included in the cost you pay for the power run)

*how many runs per car do you do?
As many as needed, but generally 4-5 runs per car

*what is the minimum of cars/maximum amount of cars for a full day
35 cars maximum

*do you require any deposit of any kind ?
No deposit needed but a weeks notice if your going to cancel would be appreciated.

*what times would the club need everyone to be at the dyno?
Arrive at 8:30 for a 9am start.

*Please note these are only open on a saturday

Now the place is not too far away from most members ,maybe for a few others but I personally think this is a good deal and would be a great day.
Hes also said that every Saturday of March would be available but only saturdays as they are not open on sundays and I think we may get a bigger response so I am proposing we choose March 2010 period just before all Show seasons start and as Castlecombe will be the first show at least we can get this done.

The location is here:

Torque of the Devil

Unit 1B, Arun Buildings, Arundel Road
Uxbridge Industrial Estate
Uxbridge
Middlesex
UB8 2RP
Telephone:     01895 206777
Fax:     01895 813008
Email:     info@torqueofthedevil.com

So who would be interested in attending the day but please be aware that for the £35 each we will need over 10 cars to attend otherwise we will have to pay £45 each on the day.
for anyone that is interested this offer will only be on a first come serve basis upto 35 cars so lets get voting guys as we need to get the venue booked before march....

(PLEASE BE AWARE I WILL BE WANTING PEOPLE TO ADD THERE NAMES TO LIST BEFORE THE 22ND OF JANUARY 2010 PLEASE AND I WILL BE SEEING IF WE CAN GET TOTAL VAUXHALL DOWN FOR THE SHOOT
,SO COME ON GUYS BE QUICK AND GET YOUR NAMES DOWN.)

If there are some spare spaces nearer the time I might bring the M3 (providing you guys don't stone it lol)

Good luck with this!.

If you have to own a Calibra; make sure it's the 4x4 turbo. You dont want to fanny around with a FWD car.

To be honest, it is difficult enough to get 35 cars to a good meet, only a few major events exceed that.  The problem is not that people aren't interested, but there is a limit to how far people are prepared to travel in a day.  Uxbridge is easily accessible for anyone West of London, up to around Birmingham, or out to Bristol, or down to Winchester, or anyone who can get to the M25 easily.

Having said that, 35 cars is the maximum that can be RR'd in a day.  The cost if £45 each for up to 10 cars and only £35 each for 11 or more cars.  So whilst it would be great to get as many as possible, what you really need is at least 11 absolute 'definites' - so far you appear to have 10 'possibles'.

Ideally, I'd say that you need at least 15 'strong probables' to ensure that you get at least 11 on the day, because you invariably get a big drop out, on the day, of people who say that they are "definitely coming", but don't show up - either because their car is playing up, or because they've got something better to do, or because they've had a skinfull the previous night (actually they're the ones who are most likely to turn up! ;) )

yeah i know j@z , i guess as long as we ve a handful then we can make it good , obviously we have people from all over the uk and i and guess it depends on how much they can travel.

the reason i picked march was because from april show season starts with castlecombe and its a birthday treat for me as id love to see what im running even if it is very much standard ...

No, no - go for it.  I'm just saying that it doesn't appear to matter if you don't fill all 35 places, as long as you get more than 10 turn up on the day (or pay in advance), you'll all get the benefit of a group discount.  It's just 'the more the merrier'!

Yes, but this post:

right we have 3 days in which we need more names the deadline is the 21st of jan 2010 (date will be announced once votes have been counted.

We still have 25 places to be taken ....

Seemed to suggest that if the remaining 25 places aren't taken, it might be a problem, when it doesn't need that many to make the day work.

no sorry j@z no problem but i want to be able to give andy a rough number of people who have added there names down.
He said if it turns out that we would need to cancel he would be happy if a week before that we had to cancel as to on the day, i think i just want as many people to put there names down and hope most would turn up.

we need 11 confirmed so that we can all pay £35 each as to the extra tenner, i was at first going to get people to send me the money so i took care of the rolling road but when andy said he doenst need a deposit whereas many do.

I want as many as i can get for the day to go good and everybody to be happy.
