Several spotted about Luton town..
« on: December 22, 2012, 17:35:23 PM »
Seen a few on a regular basis so they must be 'Lu'onian' ones:

  • Mag blue, p/r reg with a spoiler, sometimes about near Bramingham in the mornings - its really nice!

Olive gay *cough* excuse me, grey  ::) Also P, Leagrave area with mud flaps, spoiler!

A dark metallic Green one I have seen a few times but is not .rip!

A Northern Cape one is actually just down the road, where was that hiding!

Red one in Houghton Regis, red, BBS alloys

Frost blue, usually at Chequers in houghton also!

Mag blue - Houghton Regis, rarely seen daylight! Might be a members on here ........... body kit, wife called Gail! ;D

They are ALL the ones I have spotted! Anyone know of them?

LOL! I'm not bloody married to her! Nearly 12 years together, mortgage, kids, joint bank accounts, life insurance policies etc I really don't need that final nail in my coffin! ;D

I think I know the red one you mean, heading out of Houghton Regis along Sundon Road towards Toddington/Luton. Had a caved in N/S wing not so long ago but has been repaired so I guess it's a keeper for the owner. I pulled up alongside it in the Chequers car park a few years back & had a chat with the owner, I think it's in different hands now though.

There's a grey, M reg one I drive past most mornings that's heading from Sundon back this way & a black one with an irmy/turbo spoiler has started appearing in the same area over the last month.

Oh, the one in the Chequers car park (SE6 'Icelandic Blue') belongs to Keith. It's an auto with 45k on the clock but he's a miserable old sod who's convinced it's worth ?2.5k plus! ::)

Yeah but most Calis were built in Finland.
The SE4 V6 is a garage ornament. You won't spot that on the road!

He may well be right about the price, but nobody would buy it at that price until it is a full bonefied classic that is lusted after like a GTE and when that happens it will surely be the 4x4 turbos then SE's in the pecking order

Maybe interest will spark when the 2013 Insignia based Calibra II comes out! Hope its not just an Insignia Coupe, like Calibra was not literally a Cavalier Coupe.

Mine is dark metallic green and I tend to pass through or visit Luton every 4 - 6 weeks. Has an Irmscher spoiler.

I passed thru Luton once! Was stuck in roadworks on M1 and mrs who was 8 months pregnant was dieing for a piss!!!  So pulled off and stopped at first place likely to have a toilet which happened to be a pub.   Opened the pub door and the place went silent and all eyes burnt thru us!!  "Would u mind if my partner used ur toilet please?"   Response was................ "Would u like to buy a drink first?"
Wont be stopping in Luton again!!!!!!     :o

As I do not work for the tourist board of Luton I will gladly say the town has seen better days and lost its 'Home of Vauxhall and Hats' charm a bit along the way.

Certain, differences, among the town folk do not help put us in a good light in front of the nation but it has all you ever need and plenty of choice. Including many many Vauxhall related things!

It is not too bad a place .... could be much nicer than it is.

Hi Lutoncalibra, which part are you from, i'm from Farley Hill and have a Yellow SE2. My son lives in Houghton Regis and has a SE9 with original BBS wheels and uses the Sundon Road quite a bit. he did have a broken front bumper but that has been replaced now, if you see me on the road give us a flash. What colour do you have and i'll look out for you when i'm out and about in our wonderful town (sarcasm is wonderful)

Hi Robs-se,
I am in Leagrave. I haven't seen a yellow one yet, my sister said she did in Harpenden not long ago (?) I am sure there are not that many yellow se2's about  ;D so I will look out for you!

You son's one is probably the one I have seen, it just catches your eye as you drive through Houghton, took my eyes off the road a few times! XD
Mine is Mag blue, very standard spoiler-less car (there is a mag blue one with a spoiler!) I usually drive it more lately esp into town.

We'll have to watch the calendar for another Heritage Centre open day to do a mini LutonCC meet!

If that's the one I'm thinking of, does he park just off Sundon Road where they've recently added that mini-roundabout at the junction?

If so, I drive that way most days as I commute from Houghton Regis to Hitchin so I see it parked there quite often.

I'm back on the road next month so it'd be pretty cool if we could all organize a local meet up, perhaps even get a pic of the Calibra's all together. :)

I'm on Parkside (for my sins) in Houghton Regis.

The Calibra has barely seen daylight in over a year but is out on my drive as we speak.

MOT next week so I'm ready for some Luton/Dunstable stuff as of April (Tax). :)

Well up for some April stuff, got a healthy list of all things Calibra which is beyond 'wonders why dash lights are so low' LC's skills! I make really good tea though.
