Very nice swap you got there! 8) 8)

I like black callys with tinted windows!

but It looks a arse when people tint the back windows darker than the drivers/passanger window/s
Please don't do that! ;)

I'm not keen on the black wheels!...But its your car!!!!!

all in all,  8) 8) 8) 8)

Hi

I have an LE, number 18. If you have straight swapped that for your corsa, you have hot a bargain. However there are many things to an LE. i.e. is the 4x4 working? for me this is very important. Is the Engine in good condition? Personally, I would invest in a rebuild considering you spent nothing on it :). They are such great cars.

It looks like an LE, obviously the wheels have been sprayed black. I have Courtenay Deep Dish alloys on mine as have 6 pot calipers, I have had mine professionally sprayed black with a chrome lip, looks very nice now done.

Congratulations on your LE - look after it. Do you know what number it is? I am likely to have for sale soon my Courtenay stainless steel heat shield and Centre Courtenay stainless steel spark plus cover if interested?
305bhp VXR Conversion, Z20let ECU and wiring loom, Courtenay Stage 3.5 mapping, Mike Haywood locked 4x4, Tarox 6 pot calipers and Discs, 9l Courtenay Intercooler, Courtenay Alloys, BTB Exhaust and HKS Cat.

I agree, but I think that I'm right in saying that it is now illegal to tint the front side windows, as it always was illegal to tint windscreens.  I believe that the law was changed around 2003.  I had mine tinted before that, but I still live in fear of being stopped by the law and having to remove the film from the front windows - as has happened to one or two members on here.

I agree, they often end up looking like steel wheels, it depends on the design of the alloys.  They can look good on black cars, as part of an overall black look.

It's not illegal to tint front side windows, The legal position is that the front side windows on all cars must allow 70% of light to pass through them. That figure also applies to the windscreens of cars first used before April 1985; any car first used from then onwards has to let 75% of light through the windscreen.

Agreed.

The problem is that 30% tint's don't look very dark, so people tend to go darker.

Plus, you can't just add 30% tints either, as the windows are factory tinted.

If I was to tint mine, I would do my fronts to the legal limit and the rears one shade darker.

Thanks for the clarification, I couldn't remember the figures.  I had the maximum tint allowed at the time, which if I remember correctly was 35% on the side (which allows 65% of the light through), but I know that this is no longer legal.  :(  If I remember correctly, the rear/tailgate window can be tinted more - I believe that mine was 40% (i.e. allowing 60% of the light through).  Do you know what the figure is for that?

Are all factory-fitted windows at least slightly tinted?  What was the tinting of the original side windows fitted to the Calibra by the factory?

So what would you do?  Assuming that you don't want to get stopped for illegal tints and made to rip it off?  Not tint it at all?  Or tint front and back to a lower tint?

Hard decision tbh!
I'd rather see it all in the dark tints for sure! But as its  a possibility I could be stopped and told to pull it off! I'd more than likely go for the lighter tints back and front!

But I had tins just like that on one of my Nova's (light back and front!) and I found it hard to see out through the passanger window at night! all I could see was the reflection of the speedo and me on the inside! and had there been someone on a push bike with dim lights I probably wouldn't have seen him!
mostly the reason why I haven't done my cally!

Rear windows can be as dark as you like, you could even paint them black  ;D

I believe the cally windows allow 85/90% light through.

LoL.  Funny that, when I believe that it is illegal not to have an internal rear-view mirror in a car! ;D

So a 15-20% tint film would be the maximum permissible addition.  :(

I don't think it is illegal.
