right well where to begin, yesterday was the day of the old heave ho.

Me and dad were going to start around 8am, until i got the news that i was wanted for a job interview and yesterday was the only day they could do it! So off i trundle to Derby for a 7.30am job interview, back at dads at 10, and at mine for 10.30.

Finally we got started :D

Heres how it has been stood for a while, most leads off, exhaust still attached.

So while dad gets the exhaust off i start on the offside driveshaft.

Tada!

Time to help dad with the exhaust, of course its a pain in the arse to get one off with jacks

Although we persevere and finally had enough and junior hacksaw the rubber mounts  :D

One exhaust out of the car :)

Whilst the car was running it did sound rather blowy... wonder why....

oh yeah, a big hole in the backbox will do it :p

After that off with all the gearbox mounts and any remaining loomage. Once we finished that it was time to get in the crane :)

Bit by bit it started coming....

30 minutes later....

Leaving this...

Its harder than it looks pulling a gearbox off a driveshaft when the F25 is so damned heavy! So off with the nearside wheel and hubnut. Slowly but surely we got the driveshaft out the car, and then the driveshaft out of the gearbox.

And heres how she stands now... looking a bit sad for herself!

Ive got some other problems with the replacement parts but hopefully will get them sorted before the new block goes in.

And thats me about knackered :D aching like crazy now... oh and btw i got a 2nd interview today

:D

Cheers

Bill

Had "One of those days" today :(

Decided I was going to wirebrush and paint the calipers with yellow hammerite whilst i've still got a free day. Painting them yellow and getting gold zinc coated discs, should looking good behind the white alloys. So off out to the shed i go, only to find i've left the hammerite at my dads house :(

I have ended up going over a lot of parts with some jizer getting rid of all the oil off them due to the oil leak on the old engine :) Whilst looking for the hammerite I also sort of ended up clearing out the shed so theres more room to work :)

At least the day wasn't totally wasted!

rightyo i had a little time today so out came the drill and wirebrush and i went to town on the inlet :D

And then a lick of hammerite....

Its only one coat so its still fairly see through but ill put another coat on tomorrow and it should look the mutts :)

Then i got the replacement backbox for that vectra one that didn't fit.

It needs a good clean but it will do until i can get a full system sorted.

So tomorrow it will be a 2nd coat of paint on the inlet and if i can be bothered i might get around to doing the calipers in the same colour :P

Cheers

Bill

I really should have read this thread before coming round, lol. Not the other way round.

One thing I'd suggest is not to t-cut / polish your car before putting vinyls on... I did that and the areas I'd polished would not take the vinyls as well! One thing I would like to do is do your yellow door flashes before mine :D :D :D Not looking forward to that TBH, although I have a very large sheet of green vinyl to practice technique with.

You may also want to look at moving to equal length shafts. 200bhp in FWD isn't fun otherwise!

that would mean moving the gearbox and thats not much of an option.

The offside shaft will be properly supported though so shouldn't be too much of a problem :)

At the end of the day this car will be a good runner for a couple of years and then ill get something monsterous and rwd :)

oh and id rather you did your doors before mine  ;D oh and can you pm me the yellow paint colour you used for the vinyl matching :) ta.

right well not many people seem too interested but out of the kindness of my heart ill give yall another update anyway :P

first job today was to give the inlet another coat, its not holding as well as i'd hoped on the aluminium but it doesn't look too bad now, it may get another coat if i can be bothered ;)

i had to leave that to dry so i thought on such a wonderful day i should be out doing the calipers!

so out comes the old wirebrush and off i set to get em as clean as possible

and again out comes the yellow hammerite :) i wasn't worrying too much about the discs or pads as they are all being replaced before the cars on the road again.

i have had to leave the backs till either i can find two more axle stands or until the cars back on its fronts.

after that i thought what i was going to do next and thought that cleaning the engine bay may get some jizer or water on the paint drying so i thought id leave that for the day to harden off.

In the end i decided to have a go at cleaning the scorpion backbox up as it had tar marks and all sorts.

I wasn't too bothered about scratching it as ill be getting a full system on it soon enough so i thought id at least make it look presentable so out came the wirebrush again and the hammer and chisel getting the stones out from between the pipes.

Once i thought id got most of the crap off i got the autosol out and put my back into it :)

Pipe 1...

and done...

Until early april i cant spend much money so im doing stuff that is fairly cheap at the moment and some real momentum will take place soon :)

the problem with the engine im putting in is that it will have no engine cover due to having the vectra cam covers. This means its going to look very black so i wanted something in the engine bay to stand out a bit :)

//edit can a mod please move this post to the projects subforum as its really turned into my project thread :)

I can see where your going with the colour scheme.
Samco do a silicone hose kit in yellow now, as well as the normal blue/red.
I'm trying to sort out with them about becoming a distributor for them, and can get you a price if you want mate?
