Calibra 1995v Cliff conversion
« on: November 13, 2017, 20:45:56 PM »
Hello all,

I recently bought a 1995 Calibra with +/-140000km. Has a black leather interior and 'full option'. Same color as the current ever faithful 1994 8v ;)

Did already some rework on the steering (lower arms, tie rods, tie rod ends, drop links) and some small interior work (complete cleaning..drying).
I'm currently preparing the 'Cliff kit' for it. Front bumper is already on in the pics; side strips and rear bumper strips are in progress.

Also fully cleaned the engine bay and (almost) fully serviced. Only downside is it sounds like a bloody diesel! Uploaded a small vid here - seems like the valves are ticking really loud and does not seem linked to oil type. Going to try some Wynn's oil cleaner for it.

The rest are small touches.. repairs here and there.

Looking forward to the end result! :)

Yeah, there was some water in the flooring at the passenger side which got me worried initially... but I found out the 'elephant nose' drain was fully clogged to the top. Removed all the dirt and the cabin stayed dry.

There's some small rust spots at the left side side skirt at the rear wheel arch, but for the rest pretty clean.

Will have to get a new roof liner though as the old one got fully pulled off and some minor damages to the fiberglass part. May get one from Lenk at some time in the near future.

Will post some more pics soon once more stuff is done.

Got the Cliff kit painted which will go on soon to the sides and rear bumper.

Installed a keyless entry kit (like I also did on the 8v)... works like a charm.

Here's a screen of the headlights... and rims that will come on soon as well. These are 18"; have 17s on the 8v. Will see how they go in terms of drive as doubting whether they're not just a tad too large.
