C20NE Vs. C20XE.
« on: March 10, 2010, 09:17:18 AM »
As you'll already know on the driveway is an SE2, and already broke an ecotec Calibra to fund parts for the SE2, mainly interior and trims, as the SE2 was seeing alot of wear. Recently just picked up this 8 valver, as the SE2 has had lots of work done on it, i.e. cambelt, service etc, but the bodywork isn't up to date. 8 valver isn't in perfect condition but looking to restore her to it's former glory, rather than scrap to fund the work on the SE2.

Here's some photo's.

SE2 mods so far:
DTM kit
Bonnet Extension
Evo Spoiler
Rear Tints
XXIO 17''s

8 Valve mods so far:
Imrscher Spoiler w/brake light
Scorpion Exhaust
Lowered 35mm
Afterburners
Konig Tantrums 17''

Plans:
SE2 plans, after burners, respray on bumpers and bonnet extension.
8 valve plans, keep it fairly standard, clean all the stickers off, go for some BBS alloys, light smoked rears.

There's an Official SE2 Owners Register, if you are looking for it click above and add the SE2's details to the register.

There's me wondering if I should keep one calibra and you'v got two! Lol. I knew getting involved with this site would make it imposible to let her go. Good work btw should keep you busy till summer.

It's addictive trust me, Heather (my partner) first had a black redtop, then a smoke grey ecotec, then the se2, and we just bought the 8 valve, I'm into the Vauxhall scene but I have another car, I owned the ecotec for a short period of time until we broke it to give a lease of life to the se2, and really enjoyed the motoring experience, now I am having the 8 valver, and she's having the se2, with afterburners, I prefer a much more standard look, bbs alloys, a bit like the SE5's.

You'd  be back if you go, alot of people are. Calibra's still look so modern for their age, and do turn heads. Think what car that's L reg, 93' that looks as modern as a Calibra, still today?

Your V6, looks immaculate, don't let it go!

I know the feeling, that's why we're taking the SE2 off the road, to do it up, and 8 valver is a little bit more of a cheap run around, that way SE2 doesn't get wear and tear until it needs to be out on the roads.

If honest i perfer the look of the 8v.
Would try and maybe flush fit the fog light somehow, apart from that looks really clean.
Nice to see another calibra saved.

That's what I was thinking, I don't like the tow bar kind of look.
What have other people done for fogs with afterburners?

could you maybe get 2 flatish rear fogs and mount them eitherside of the numberplate if you reduced the size of the plate??

would look smart if done properly

Shame someone can't do a little photoshop, was looking at getting a flush panel, with afterburners, but this will be on the SE2 and locate the number plate into the bumper with the fogs in rear meshed bit.

Nah R33, cos the afterburners are a similar size, and don't have the indicators in the little squares between the lights :) Also the R33 has the wider stance as opposed to the R32

I would reccomend using high quality pics as often as poss, makes your life easier for making the pic look more realistic after you have chopped it. just do what i did, start with a simple pic of a car or whatever, and see what the different tools do, use the burn tool to tint the windows etc.... you will pick up tricks etc as you go on, and as you said, google for tips n tricks. digimods.co.uk has a few simple tips you make use of too, in the tutorials section :)
