Mabo 2012 Friday 27th to Sunday 29th April
« on: August 08, 2011, 14:09:32 PM »
The Mabo meet is back on this year in the same location as before, the above dates are provisional and will be confirmed 100% tomorrow

Due to problems last year we were banned from returning to the site but thanks to Ash's intervention (Several in depth conversations)  we have now been allowed to return on the understanding that there are no further problems and we cannot attend on the bank holiday weekend as we have the last two years.

As it happens this year the May bankholiday is later so we should actually be there on the same weekend as last year but it will be less busy, this is defiantly the last reprieve that we will get on this site, ANY further problems and we will NOT be allowed to return which would be a real shame as it is a great site and meet and always enjoyed by all who attend

As a result of this there are two main rules in place

1/ There will be no driving around the site after the consumption of alcohol, Ash and Mark (campsite owner) would like the cars to be parked in such a manner to prevent them being used once people have had a drink and if this is not possible for keys to be retained by myself

2/ No one wants to stop anyone having a good time (Look at my drink consumption at Billing) but this can be done without causing offence to others using the site, just to be aware that this is a small site and there may still be families present

Any activity that could be deemed to cause offence or show the club in a bad light (what ever the intention)  will be met with 0 tolerance

Now that is done and out of the way I am hoping that we will see a better attendance this year after the recent success at Billing and am looking forward to a really good weekend, this will be our 5Th year in Mabo and hopefully be followed by many more :)

Due to the success of the donations at Billing I propose that we have a singe donation of ?5 per member attending  (To be held in trust by Alz) towards BBQ and beer (if enough in attendance) can also go toward either some awards OR the much enjoyed treasure hunt run and arranged by Dr Zux :)

I will leave this thread to be used for questions, chat and suggestions and start another thread for the list  8)

MOD NOTE (ALZ)

Please send your donation to [email protected]  Once I have notification of payment received I'll update the list http://www.clubcalibra.com/clubcalibra-events/mabo-2012-fri-27th-to-sun-29th-the-list/  accordingly.

MOD EDIT (ALZ)

Barra has put his 'neck on the line' as organiser of this. Any more nonsense will not be tolerated at this event or his membership of .com will be in jeopardy. I'm sure none of you wish this to happen and you will all respect his decisions as to what is asked of you during the meet ref behaviour.

Thank you all in advance for your co operation.

Just my tuppence worth, as Martin has said, it has took a lot of discussion to make this happen again, big thanks to those responsible.

We have to remember this is a small family holiday site and almost to quote VBOA rules. we need to keep it down at night.

I will be in major discussions with Barra on what we are going to do at Mabo as we always have some things happening, like the Treasure Hunt for example.

I thought it was May too. I was trying to work out how 27-29 did not clash with the 2nd May Bank Hol.

There is something which worries me:

Leave our cars so they can't be moved while we're drunk.
Park them so all are blocked in by the last one. Nobody will be able to move until the 'blocking driver' sobers up. Sods law says he'll be the last one!

Or we could all hand our keys in to Chops the all-night drinker?
So nobody has somewhere safe to lock their camera etc & we all have to take our chances against Barra to get them back in the morning?

Hmmm, they'll take a bit more thought.

Sounds like fun!

I'm not jumping straight in & saying I'll be there, right now that answer would probably be a no.

We'll see. :)

I should be ok for Mabo.

Dan, just worry about getting the V6 sorted for now & see how you feel closer to the time. How did the removal(s) go yesterday?

TBH I have thought the same about the keys mate, one of the issues was with a couple of people leaving site at Billing drunk on the Saturday night, I would be happy enough IF it is alright with Ash for people to keep there keys so they have access to there belongings etc with the STRICT understanding the cars are not moved as long as the barrier key cards are handed to me so no one can leave the site, don't worry about me not being up either mate I have always been  up by 8am at the latest at Mabo for the busy bees fry up ;)

Barra is the best person to keep the keys! He doesn't sleep so you have 24hour access to them ;D
