Any exhaust is legal, providing it has a CAT if nessersary, and doesnt exceed 88db (i think). It must be of good condition, i.e: no holes and secured properly, and not hang out of the back of the car a stupid distance. Any aftermarket exhaust should be notified to your insurance company, but other than that, nothing else.

within reason all exhausts are legal as long as if ur car was a k reg or newer it is fitted with a cat
only reason it may become illegal is if it is

leaking to exess
not securely mounted
fouling bodywork
or is that dam loud the u get charged with noise polution -- pritty hard to do

S/s zorsts have a tendency to sound more 'raspy' than m/s, but if it's got the right silencers on it, it shouldn't fail because it's too noisy.

Whether the CAT by-pass is legal will depend on what year your car is & whether it passes emission tests without it.
