I wouldve thought theyre all legal as long as they have a silencer and a cat for the emissions.

When i got multiple fines with my astra.. i argued and argued.. in the end it came down to being that it is illegal to fit an aftermarket exhaust... thats what i was told.

Is this a common example of Scottish policing, by any chance...?

You could have a drain pipe for an exhaust, a bit of scaffolding, as long as it meets the noise restrictions and has a cat its cool.

My old mini had no silencers, large twin exhaust, was mega loud and that still passed MOTs and the only legal problem I had was with a copper claiming it was a 'pedestrian hazard' as the pipe protruded 1 inch from the bumper lol.
