Stop it you lot!
Engine running or not, try both & you'll find out soon enough when the CEL starts flashing at you in a sensible manner.

Nooo.
Turbos are cool.
You would know that if you'd taken my Lotus for a proper drive like I urged you to rather than like a wimp at 5mph around Billing's camp site.  :P :P :P

Hi Regarding my previous post page 1

What I meant to say is that on a couple of occasions when out on a drive my EML flickered on and off a couple of times but no fault codes flagged up when I got home and checked. When I mentioned this to my mate who does mobile engine diagnostics who has approx: 25yrs experience and also worked on rally car engines said , He had come across this quirk before and he said unless the EML stays on constantly it is not registered with Ecu as a fault.

He said he thinks its due to wiring, or corroded electrical contacts, etc but although seeing the eml flicker would alarm you into thinking ......grhhh.......not more cash  and problems. :'(
Just don't worry about it

happy driving ;)

Not sure the EML needs to be permanently on to register a code - I think 30 seconds is enough.

Agree, it is something like that yes which makes it all the more annoying when it flicks on and off too quickly to register an error code but long enough to make you worry about what is going to break next.

I think a brief flicker is likely to mean a sensor somewhere starting to fail rather that anything more serious IMO
