Car Covers
« on: October 18, 2011, 13:33:15 PM »
With the impending frosts approaching >:( anyone found a suitable cover for the Calibra?

I mean one that fits (top half/screens) properly, doesn't blow off or up (so ice forms anyway) and doesn't cost a fortune ::)

For various reasons this winter all the cars are on the drive so that means the inevitable swapping about late at night and early mornings, the thought of doing that and having to de frost to move them taking all of 2 mins doesn't fill me with joy I have to say ;D

I know de icer is the bloody obvious way but even that re freezes at the temps we had last year and frankly I don't like the stuff.

Only problem iv had with car covers and wind is that constant moment against a dirty car causes it to rub the paint work in places, roof, door pillers ect so. Had this happen on mine and it took ages to buff the dull patches out caused by the covers rubbing on a dirty car.

Those screen covers that took under your wipes work well and won't blow off but you still have to de ice your side windows.

Top covers can also be akward with the roof mounted arial unless you unscrew it each time & also as coupe depending on what type only two anchor points.
I did have just a windscreen cover which had suckers to the inside of the screen also held in place with the doors closed thereby not touching paintwork apart from the A pillar.

Open the window & stick your head out. You'll be able to see well enough to shift the cars around.
No defrosting necessary.  ;)
