am guessing that 2000 grand is a bit on the steep side mate LOL. think it should be about 1k but am not 100% sure.
Surely spraying silver - black aint that much work all depends on the paint you want 2. if you going for a lighter colour like yellow or summit then maybe 2k
If she thinks you don't love her then
a) Take her out for a meal
b) Buy her some flowers or
c) Cram it in her ass. Dry.
Then she'll know you do!

don't pay 2k mate, that's a sh*t price. Find someone one on the site or local to you, that you have seen work from. Then barter! Prep the car yourself, do the arches, it ain't hard! This should (only leavin the re-spray) cut the cost to approx £300/500.

just one other thing. If you do the arches yourself, remember perfection cant be rushed and seal the inside of the arches, so no rust can reapear!

just buy rust eater, follow the steps on the tin. After that mesh the hole from the inside of the arch, fiberglass it, sand it back (propper smooth) the a thin (as thin as you can) coat of catty or spray putty. Again once dry sand back smooth. The sprayer then has to worry about blending paint! and remember seal it on the inside! body work I can do, when it comes to brakes and engine work I'm screwed!

all you will need is:
1 x wire brush
1 x tin of rust eater & small paint brush
1 x tin of fiberglass & hardener
1 x pack of fiberglass mesh
1 x tin of cally or spray putty
and about 3 days to do it right (allowing for propper drying times)

As i work in a paintshop and just recently resprayed my Calibra, i didnt have a labour charge all im required to pay for are the materials used inc cosumables like sanding papers, fillers, primers and top coats. The bill for that alone at cost price is over £300 with no VAT or company added extras eg 10% on top of cost price..

The stages of respraying a car include:

1: Strip
2: Repair
3: Prep for Primer
4: Prep for Top Coat inc masking..
5: Top Coat
6: De-nib and Polish
7: Valet
8: Quality Control.

The place i work add up to a 5 yr warranty on paintwork depending on the age of the vehicle and usually do not touch major rust repairs when the metal work is holed, once the panel has corrosion that has bubbled the paintwork and has pitted the metal it is very difficult totaly remove it totaly it will return in time. The best way is either replace the panel or cut out the corroded area and weld in new metal..

My respray inc repairs estimated time was approx 35hrs-40hrs start to finish, but i actually worked nearer to 60 hrs on it as i de moulded the side panels, repaired bumper mouldings smoothing them aswell rather than fit new, colour coded mouldings mirrors, door handles and side skirts, painted door shuts, inner tailgate and shut the face of the inner doors that are seen when the doors open and the slam panel.. Plus i had the advantage of being able to replace broken clips and rusty screws and bolts buy diving into our surplus parts boxes. I broke drivers side mirror glass and Vauxhall parts dealer we do business with quoted me £51:00 + VAT for a replacement and thats with any discount the company is due.. propably none as its not a vauxhall parts club piece...
