On standard rear lamp clusters the boot release button (ie where you put the key and then press) is in the drivers side lamp (dependant on which side you drive on) aftermarket lamps such as after burners ect do not have this mechanism so a kit is supplied usualy a button attatched to an electric motor which will operate the boot catch release.   :)

Don't forget, if it's an electrically operated boot kit & your main doors are de-locked, you won't be able to get in through the boot in the event of your battery going flat... :(

Thats why its always a good idea to have an external charge point fitted the same time as you de lock the car, as xlisax has found out saves calling out the recovery every time you leave the lights on :D

I think her dad called the rac loo :D

All the rac would do is jack up the front end and reach up to the bonnet catch,  not a job u want to do in tesco car park in the pissing rain.  ;D

When it happen to me, the AA man couldn't open the bonnet, just couldn't reach it so put leads from a jump pack to starter motor waiting 10 mins then pressed keyfob and door open :)
